Quainton Virtual Stockbook - Quainton on Film

Wartime Farm Christmas

Presenters - Ruth Goodman and Peter Ginn

Director - Stuart Elliott

Executive Producer - David Upshal

Description - Our TPO featured in this BBC2 Programme on December 18, 2012, with member Cyril Parsons talking to Ruth Goodman. Cyril showed a Christmas Airgraph from a soldier serving in North Africa in 1941. Good scenes of Cyril and Ruth unloading sacks onto the platform. Although visitors to the Mid-hants Railway will be disappointed to discover that the train is not there but at Quainton! Hopefully they will want to rectify that by coming to see us.

Re-broadcast on Friday 21st February 2013 at 7pm to 8pm on Freeview channel 19 'YESTERDAY'. This program showed the re-enactors taking produce by train to London in 1944. In reality they got on a steam train of Southern stock on the Mid Hants Railway and then Ruth Goodman went into the "next" coach to talk to our Cyril Parsons in our TPO sorter (which never actually left Quainton). Of course, TPO's weren't used in passenger trains but this is a TV story!
