Robert Frise - Box Van WGB4162 shortly after delivery

Arriving during 2003, along with its partner WGB4018, from probably one of the last batches of short wheel base wagons produced. Purchased from the Army's Central Ordnance Depot Military Railway at Bicester, its TOPS classification is VJX, with WGB4162 as its military number.

A short wheel base van, it is fitted with air brakes, and various other relatively modern features. An interesting feature is that its brake has two positions on the brake changeover mechanism, namely for goods (g. position) and passenger (p. position). This makes the brakes go on more quickly when attached to a passenger train.

Both vehicles are in very good condition, and will be repainted in grey livery. WGB4018 was destined to be located after restoration in the Cattle Dock. This vehicle was only intended to be at Quainton for a short period.
