No. 73096 was originally restored as No. 73080 Merlin, in which guise it visited Quainton for a short visit in 1994, for our Silver Jubilee. The locomotive was subsequently renumbered No. 73096 with the name removed. At the time of its visit to Quainton No. 73096 was based at the Mid Hant's Railway, but later moved to Southall for storage. It has now returned to the Mid Hant's Railway, where it is awaiting its turn in the maintenance queue.
