This property was known as the First Inn, and before that the Railway Arms. It was shown on the 1920's OS map as the Railway Arms. Whilst this is not a railway property, this was the nearest house in Station Road, Quainton, when you walked away from the station, so probably saw a good number of railway related customers over the years. The roof gave way in October 2013 and is now believed to be due for demolition. Around 100 years ago Quainton Village boosted no less than 7 licensed premises, though most were merely front rooms where you could obtain a home brewed pint in the evening, today there is only one - the George and Dragon, now owned by a community trust.
The Railway Arms / First Inn was apparently frequented by the driver of the Brill Tramway engine on his arrival at Quainton Road. Presumably, the fireman stayed with the engine. The Railway Arms sold its final pint on 19th December 1957.
