LNER Buffet No. 9118

This coach was built at York in 1936 and was numbered 9118. It was rebuilt with modern decor and propane gas cooking facilities in 1960. In its latter days with British Railways it was transferred to the Western Region and was based at Old Oak Common. Withdrawn in 1969, it was subsequently purchased by a Mr A J Franklin and arrived at Quainton on 23rd September 1970 along with several other items of coaching stock.

This vehicle is similar in appearance to the LNER 5 - Compartment Brake 3rd No. 41384 still at Quainton. It is fitted with a counter at one end, with storage and cooking facilities, and tables for 24 people.

This vehicle left Quainton for the East Anglian Railway Museum, Chappel and Wakes Colne, before moving to Ovington, Suffolk. It is now at the Epping Ongar Railway.
