GWR Tin Hut
![]() ![]() ![]() Photos: |
This typical GWR corrugated tin hut was the parcels office at nearby Bledlow Halt and arrived at Quainton on the back of a farm tractor and trailer in 1990. It has a simple angle iron frame covered in corrugated galvanised iron. The front door slides across. Currently it is used to store platform display items in connection with our Travelling Post Offices coaches and has been restored to the correct GWR cream with a black roof with a concrete floor, though originally this was ash, The sliding door bears an oval brass plate with Joseph Ash & Son, Manufacturers, Rea Street, South Birmingham embossed on it.
