Normally based at the Middleton Railway, Brooks No. 1 visited Quainton for the Steam Gala in May 2018, staying for 3 weeks in total.

Brooks No. 1 previously worked at the Brookes Chemical Co. site in Halifax, Yorkshire. Previously based at the Peak Railway, the locomotive was purchased by a Middleton Railway Trust member in 1981. In 2013 ownership transferred to the Middleton Railway Trust with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
